Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’.

Matthew 4:4

Personal reflection questions:

  1. While Jesus faced many temptations, He never sinner (Hebrews 4:15). What amazing fact does this tell us about Jesus (Hebrews 7:26). With these two truths in mind, what does that mean for us who fall to temptations every day (Romans 5:19)?
  2. What was Jesus’ chief purpose in coming to this world (Matthew 4:4, Mark 10:45, John 6:57-58)? Why is this a comfort when we fall to the temptations of Satan or the world or give in to our sinful flesh?
  3. Certainly Jesus wants all to be with Him in heaven. While on this earth and telling people the good news of salvation, He also showed His love for people by helping them (Matthew 9:35-36). What does that mean for us as we wait for Jesus to take us home to heaven (I John 3:16-18)?
  4. What are ways you can strengthen yourself to fight against the attacks of Satan (Psalm 84:1-4, Colossians 3:16, Luke 10:38-42, Joshua 1:8, Acts 17:11, I Corinthians 11:26, Romans 6:1-14)?
