“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
John 6:27
Personal reflection questions:
- How does Matthew 6:33 (“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness…”) help us understand what Jesus means when he says, “Do not work for food that spoils…”? He doesn’t mean we should quit working for a living, does he?
- Obviously, putting food on the table is an urgent matter. Without nourishment we will grow weak and die. Think about how we can keep the urgent needs of daily life from causing us to neglect our spiritual and eternal needs.
- When we’re physically hungry, we feel hunger pangs. What are some signs that we’re spiritually famished?
- List some ways that you are “working,” or intend to “work,” for food that endures to eternal life.
